A trip to the barrio of Abasto is a must for tango fans as well as families traveling with young kids. Not only did Carlos Gardel, the King of Tango, grow up here, he wrote the first tango song in Abasto and played in many barrio bars. Tour Museo Casa Carlos Gardel, the home Gardel shared with his mother. Stroll Calle Carlos Gardel, a cobblestone street commemorating Gardel's life. Take in a tango show at Esquina Carlos Gardel, one of the icon's favorite hangouts. And should the kids tire of tango engage in a different kind of activity. Visit Museo de los Niños Abasto an interactive children's museum geared to kids aged 10 and under. Shop in the Abasto, the art deco building on Avenida Corrientes that once housed the central market for fruits and vegetables. Ogle at the Obelisk, the symbol of Buenos Aires.
