A trip to the Buenos Aires Planetarium, officially known as Planetario Galileo Galilei, provides a peek at the southern sky. Observe the night sky. Study the sun. Partake in children's program and learn about comets and shooting stars.
Crux, Latin for cross, is a cross-shaped asterism or pattern of stars commonly known as the Southern Cross. It is a southern constellation and is visible from the southern hemisphere throughout the year. Crux is never visible from locations north of 30°N. Crux is one of the smallest constellations yet it is one of the best-known and easiest to find. Crux has 5 stars, the brightest of which sits at the foot of the cross, and is shaped like a kite. Explorers used it to navigate, as a bright star doesn't mark the southern sky. Crux doesn't have a Greek name and there are no Greek or Roman myths associated with this constellation but it is well-known to southern cultures and appears in stories and songs of the Maori, Tuaregs, Gauchos and Australian Aborigines.
