Time has bequeathed more than old bones to Argentina. Cañadón Escondido, hidden canyon in Spanish, is a great place to hunt for dinosaur footprints. And steal a look at some really old rock. This slot canyon, 20 km long and 80 meters deep, harbors 120 million years of history! Weave a tale of theropods. Tell a story of sauropods. Play ichnologist on a search for trace fossils.

Dinosaur Footprint

Flavia Righetti

Dinosaur tracks, also known as trace fossils and dinosaur footprints, show more than the size and shape of a dinosaur's feet. They tell us whether the dinosaur walked, trotted or ran. Dinosaur tracks show the number of toes. They tell us whether the dinosaur lived alone or in herd. And dinosaur tracks tell us where and when a dinosaur lived. The study of dinosaur tracks is called ichnology but the people that study them are rarely called ichnologists. They are known as trackers instead.
