Mather Point, South Rim
Mather Point and the Canyon View Information Plaza are an ideal first stop on the South Rim. Take in the scope of the Grand Canyon at Mather Point. Follow the paved walkway to Canyon View and in addition to discovering what's on and what to do, check out the visitor center's indoor and outdoor displays and watch the video Lure of the Canyon.

Getting There
Mather Point is roughly one mile (1.6 km) from Market Plaza. The Canyon View Information Plaza is located at Mather Point. Hop on a free park shuttle (Village and Kaibab shuttles stop at Mather Point) or hike along the Rim Trail. The Hermit Road and the road to Yaki Point/South Kaibab are CLOSED to private vehicles from March through November.
Hours & Times
The Canyon View Visitor Center is open daily 8:00-18:00 in summer and 8:00-17:00 in winter. Ranger programs, free of charge, are held daily at Mather Point and Canyon View as well as other points along the South Rim. The video Lure of the Canyon is shown daily at 16:00.
Admission & Fees
Entrance to the information center, video screening and interpretive ranger programs are free of charge.
Things to Keep in Mind
The crowds at Mather Point are unbearable throughout the peak season. Mather Point is wheelchair accessible. Bicycles are allowed on the Greenway Trail. Restrooms are located at the Canyon View Visitor Center.
