Dunstaffnage Castle, Oban
Perched above the Firth of Lorne, the Dunstaffnage Castle is steeped in Scottish history and lore and exemplifies the struggle between two of the area’s clans, the MacDougalls and Campbells. Built by the MacDougall’s in the 1200s, the castle was occupied by Robert the Bruce in 1309 and remained in royal hands until 1470 when it was granted to the Campbell clan.
