Ecocentro is a great place to learn about sea life big and small. Perched high above Puerto Madryn's beaches, this sea life museum is home to a variety of exhibits. View a southern right whale skeleton. Discover the depths of the Patagonian Sea. Tour a tide pool display. And learn about the sea and its life through a variety of art forms, such as sculpture and photography.
Patagonian Sea
The Patagonian Sea, Mar Patagonico in Spanish, is an important habitat for mammals, fish and birds. This stretch of the South Atlantic from Uruguay to Cape Horn is home 1/3 of the world's marine mammal species, 83 species of sea birds, 900 species of mollusks and 5 out of 7 known sea turtle species. Millions of Magellanic penguins breed on its coastal and island rookeries. Southern right whales, Argentine squid, southern sea lions, giant petrels, southern elephant seals and black-browed albatross all live in the Patagonian Sea.
