Inveraray Jail, Inveraray
A trip to the Inveraray Jail, one of Argyll’s top tourist attractions, offers adults and kids insight to 19th century Scottish prison life. Cold, damp and often without reason. And aside from the exhibit on torture, death and damnation the tour is well within the grasp of kids even as young as 5. Tour the old and new prisons, listen to a sensation trail, explore cells, seek clues from guides dressed as wardens, prisoners and matrons and take in a different kind of Scottish history.
