Malindi Marine National Park, part of the Malindi-Watamu Biosphere Reserve, is a good place to spot megafauna and tropical fish. But don't expect to find brilliant coral or translucent water. The fringing reef has suffered greatly from coral bleaching and shell collecting. The clear blue ocean is often silted brown, even in the dry season. See surgeonfish, angelfish and moorish idols. Observe sea stars and anemone. Spot hawksbill and green turtles as well as whale and mako sharks. Take a glass bottom boat tour. Snorkel, swim and scuba dive.
Getting There

Malindi Marine National Park is 6km2 and runs parallel to shore. The park headquarters is located on the south coast road. Snorkeling trips and glass bottom boat tours can be arranged through the KWS office. Several local hotels run scuba dive trips.
Admission & Fees

An entrance fee is charged. Excursions - snorkeling, diving and glass bottom boat tours - are charged seperately.
Things to Keep in Mind

The top season for snorkeling and diving is December to March. November is the best month to spot sharks. Snorkeling is best at low tide. Most boat operators and dive companies rent snorkel equipment.
