Marafa Depression, Malindi

A trip to the Marafa Depression or Hell's Kitchen as it is commonly known is a lesson in local geology as well as Kenyan folklore. Hire a local guide and hike to the bottom of the multi-colored sandstone gorge. Take in the vistas at sunset. And introduce the kids to Nyari, a place broken by itself.

Getting There

The Marafa Depression is located roughly 40 km northwest of Malindi. From Malindi, take the road to Lamu north. The turn off for Marafa is just beyond the village of Mambrui.
Things to Keep in Mind
