Chapin Mesa Museum, Mesa Verde National Park
Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum is a great place to begin any tour of Mesa Verde. Not only do the exhibits provide an introduction Ancestral Puebloan life they provide many of the answers to the Junior Ranger activity sheets. The 25-minute orientation film offers an excellent overview of Anasazi and park history.

Getting there
The museum is located on Chapin Mesa and is roughly 5 miles (8km) from the Far View Visitor Center and 20 miles (32km) from the main entrance of Mesa Verde National Park. Allow 15 minutes for the drive from Far View Center and 45 minutes from the park entrance.
Getting around
Petroglyph Point and Spruce Canyon trails as well as the self-guided Spruce Tree House cliff dwelling begin at the museum.
Opening hours
The Mesa Verde museum is open daily 8:00 - 18:30 from early April to early October and 9:00 - 17:00 from early October to early April. The orientation film is shown every half hour.
Fees
Entrance to the Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum is included in the park admission fee.
Things to keep in mind
The museum has a snack shop and bookstore. Restrooms are located near the car park.
