Moine Mhor, also known as the Great Moss, may be soggy but it's hardly boring. This raised bog, 5,000 years in the making, is both a rare and threatened habitat. Moine Mhor is home to a great variety of animals, birds and plants. Its varied landscape includes hummocks, hollows and pools. Walk the moss. Watch birds. Spot dragonflies.
Getting There

Moine Mhor is located at the southern end of Kilmartin Glen. The moss is accessible from the B8025 (2 miles south of Kilmartin) and A816 (6 miles north of Lochgilphead). West Coast Motors offers bus service between Lochgilphead and Oban.
Things to Keep in Mind

The best time of year to walk the bog is April to October. Keep to marked pathways. Bring cold weather and rain gear.
