There are two reasons to visit Palazzo Te. 1) This simple square villa built round a cloistered courtyard is an important example of Mannerist architecture. 2) Palazzo Te is home to the Civic Museum, one of the best places in Italy to catch a traveling art show. Built by Giulio Romano in 1535, this celebrated villa was the play place of the Gonzaga dukes. The Gonzaga's came here to relax and entertain. Getting There

Palazzo Te is located at Viale Te 13 and is situated just south of city center. Parking is possible on Viale Te. Buses 1 and 3 both stop at the Palazzo. Palazzo Te is a 20-minute walk from Palazzo Ducale and the Duomo.

Hours & Times

The Civic Museum is open 9:00 - 18:00 Tuesday through Sunday and 13:00 - 18:00 on Monday. The ticket office closes 30 minutes before the museum. Closed 1 January and 25 December. Temporary exhibits are held throughout the year. The most important exhibits are held in spring and fall.

Admission & Fees

Admission is charged. A reduced rate is available for seniors and children aged 12 -18. Children 11 and under are free of charge. An additional fee is often charged for temporary exhibits. A fee is charged for phone reservations.
