Museo Municipal Carmen Funes, Plaza Huincul
Both the smallest and the largest of Patagonia’s giants, the dinosaurs that once roamed Argentina, ;are on exhibit at the Carmen Funes Municipal Museum, a small natural history museum established in 1984. Check out the sauropod dinosaur eggs discovered at the Auca Mahuida nesting site. Marvel at the Argentinosaurus huinculensis. The largest herbivore and largest dinosaur discovered to date is believed to stretch 40 meters (131 feet) in length and weigh no less than 100 tons, the equivalent of 220,000 lbs! The museum also houses a variety of plant and reptile fossils as well as other articles related to the area’s history.

Getting there
The museum is located at Av. Córdoba 55 at the intersection of national route 22 and provincial route 17. From Neuquén, take route 22 for 110 km to Plaza Huincul.
Opening hours
Monday to Friday 7:00-19:30 and Saturday and Sunday 13:00-20:30.
