Rhinelander Logging Museum is great place to introduce young kids to the history of the Wisconsin Northwoods. Tour a full-scale replica of a lumber camp (1870 circa). Check out the bunkhouse, cook shanty, blacksmith shop and model railway. Explore the Soo Line Rail Depot built in 1892. Visit the museum and learn more about the life of a logger.

What a great place to take the kids! There is a Hodag at the entrance that actually grows and if that isn't enough to convince them, there are several other 'hodags' throughout the museum complex. The kids liked the schoolhouse because they could see how nice they have it now-a-days! There are real retired teachers manning the museum and they had special handouts and activities for the children based on their age.It is difficult getting the kids through the other exhibits when there is a train museum on the grounds. Kids just love trains, and there is a full exhibit in the basement of the Railroad Museum that is a replica of Rhinelander in the days gone by. The Railroad Club has several working model trains that run through the mock-up and for a child, that is better than Christmas! I highly recommend the museum for any kid....8 to 80!
