Talana Museum, situated on a portion of the Talana Battlefield, houses an eclectic collection of documents, photographs and other artifacts related to the history of Dundee. Learn about the life of the Voortrekkers. Gain insight to the conflicts between the Zulu, Boers and Brits. Find out how coal and glass shaped the local economy. See a beadwork exhibit. Watch an arts and crafts demonstration. Marvel at the skills of potters, basket weavers and beaders. Take a self-guided tour of the Talana Battlefield. Follow the advance of the British Troops along Talana Trail.
Getting There
 
Talana museum is located on the outskirts of Dundee and is accessible from Victoria Street, also known as Vryheid Road.
Hours & Times
 
The museum is open Monday through Friday 8:00 - 16:30 and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 9:00 - 16:30. Closed Christmas Day and December 26. Special events are held several times during the year.
Admission & Fees
 
An entrance fee is charged. Cash only is accepted.
Things to Keep in Mind
 
Talana Trail is approximately two hours round trip. The museum shop sells local crafts and books. Audio tours of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift battlefields are available at the museum.
