Taourirt Kasbah, Ouarzazate
Taourirt Kasbah, a former Glaoui palace, is the main attraction in Ouarzazate. This 300-room fortress, in part restored, marks the junction of 3 rivers – Dadès, Draâ and Ziz – as well as numerous caravan routes. And while Glaoui chiefs - known as caïd - never resided in this opulent palace, the Glaoui kasbah of Taourirt once housed hundreds of people. Tour the palace. Stroll the kasbah’s irregular streets. And if you're visiting at sunset, take in the changing colors of the Sahara.

Getting There
Kasbah Taourirt is located on the east end of Ouarzazate on the road to Tinerhir. The kasbah is a 30-minute walk or short cab ride from the center of the new village.
Admission & Fees
A nominal fee is charged to tour the palace. Guided tours cost more but as with all things in Morocco the price is negotiable. Of note, only a portion of the kasbah is open to the public.
Things to Keep in Mind
While the kasbah is large enough to accommodate a crowd you're likely to feel hemmed in when the tour buses descend.
