The Thunder Lake State Wildlife Area is an ecotourism hotspot in the Wisconsin Northwoods. This 3,000-acre wildlife area consisting of sedge meadow, tamarack and spruce forest, bogs, marsh and lake land is a great place to introduce kids to bird watching and view woodland wildlife. Enjoy birding from the observation field or one of the area trails. Spot owls, loons, cranes, osprey, warblers and sparrows as well as a variety of waterfowl and, of course, the bald eagle. View deer and grouse. And if you’re visiting the wildlife area in mid-summer, blueberry picking will enhance the family fun.
