Ernesto Bachmann Paleontology Museum, Villa el Chocón
A visit to the Ernesto Bachmann Municipal Paleontology Museum is all about fossils. Fossils of trees, turtles, toads, and, of course, dinosaurs. The largest and most impressive dinosaur fossil on display is Giganotosaurus Carolinii, the world’s largest carnivore. Discovered in 1993, just 18 km (11 miles) south of El Chocón, this large theropod is believed to measure 14 meters (46 feet) long, 4.6 meters (15 feet) high and weigh nearly 8 tons (17,600 lbs).
