Long on location, short on quality

I booked our room at the Far View Lodge knowing full well that it was expensive in comparison to hotels in Cortez. What I didn't know is that quality of the standard rooms is significantly inferior to the pictures on Aramark's website. Not only was our room shoe-box small, the bathroom smelled of mold, the linoleum floor was coming up in more than just the corner and there was a trail of ants up and down the shower door. Then again staying in the park beats the 45-minute drive to and from Cortez with kids. Either bite the bullet and splurge for a superior room or manage your expectations down to 2 stars. As an aside, the Metate Room, billed as one of Colorado's top restaurants, is significantly overrated. The food is mediocre and the staff is less than gracious.
