I'd been talking about taking a desert safari in the Sahara for two years but couldn't get the right group together. So when my parents decided to join us on a winter holiday I suggested we travel to Egypt's Western Desert. It was a trip none of us will ever forget. The guide, an archeologist, was excellent. The drivers and crew were experienced and friendly. The itinerary was painstakingly prepared. The only change we made was to add an extra day in Cairo. The Egyptian Museum and Pyramids are must when traveling with kids.
