The historic State Game Lodge is a pleasant surprise. Not only is this brick and wood hotel situated in the heart of Custer State Park, it combines past and present, offers comfort on the prairie, and the restaurant boasts more than hamburgers. But make no mistake State Game Lodge is not a resort. The only organized activities are those offered by the park. The cabins have fire pits but there is no swimming pool. Area attractions are a 30 minutes drive. NB: The lodge rooms are stately. The motel rooms are simple. The rustic cabins are spacious.
