False Bay Park, South Africa
The 4000 hectare (9900 acre) False Bay Park, located on the western shore of Lake St. Lucia, may be one of the St. Lucia Wetland's smaller reserves but its untamed environment and proximity to game parks, beaches and attractions make this ecotourism destination ideal for families. Boating, fishing, hiking and horseback riding can be practiced within the park. Birding and wildlife viewing in sand forests, thornveld and open savannah will reward even jaded outdoor enthusiasts. But don't expect to see the big five here, False Bay is home to butterflies and smaller mammals such as the antelope. The small interpretive center offers insight to area marine and coral fossils.
