Isla de los Pajaros

Isla de los Pajaros, Peninsula Valdes

Isla de los Pájaros, Bird Island in Spanish, is more than the first stop on the Peninsula. This seabird colony on the north side of Istmo Carlos Ameghino is great place to watch birds. Kelp gull, great egrets, neotropic cormorants, blackish oystercatchers, magellanic penguins, and rock shag are all native to this tombolo. And while the island itself is no longer accessible, a trip to the visitor center, complete with telescope, will ensure the kids don’t miss the action.
