Hawker, Marsa Alam

The small village of Marsa Alam is one of Egypt's top sea and sun destinations. Not only does this stretch of Red Sea Coast boast sparkling seas it has the look and feel of a tropical paradise - coral reefs, sandy beaches, mangroves and palm trees. What's more, the southern dive sites host a whole range of sea life and are, as of yet, unspoiled. Spot tropical fish. See sharks and rays. Swim with dolphins. Watch green turtles and even dugongs. The one drawback? There's no movida on this strip of sand. There are no restaurants, outside of the hotels, and no markets or village shops. And even if one or two were built they would likely be distant. The resorts and dive camps at Marsa Alam are scattered north and south along the coast and many are a considerable distance - 50 kilometers or more - from the main village.
