Canyon Lodge & Cabins has both the best and worst accommodation in Yellowstone. Dunraven Lodge and Cascade Lodge, as the motel style wings are known, are recently built and tastefully furnished. They're set in the woods and are fully functional. Picture 3-star motel. The multi-plex units - Western Cabins, Frontier Cabins and Pioneer Cabins - are basic, no-frills cabins. Many of the cabins are situated in the village meaning not all are peaceful. The cabins have a tired exterior. Some, but not all, of the cabins have been updated. They're clean but not spic and span. They boast a bed, chair and tub. Imagine a step up from camping. Family Travel Tips: Both room types are expensive for you get. You're paying for location. Service at Canyon Lodge & Cabins doesn't come with a smile. The food is less than memorable. The electricity goes out frequently. Pack a torch as well as patience.
