Location is the only reason to consider Far View Lodge. The dated rooms are 3-star at best. The small bathrooms have tiny showers and are in desperate need of a remodeling. Service at this Aramark property doesn't come with a smile. The food at the Metate Room is mediocre. There is no TV, Wi-Fi, nor swimming pool. But then again one doesn't travel to Mesa Verde National Park to sleep and eat in style and lounge on hotel grounds. Deer and other wildlif
e are often spotted onsite. All rooms have a balcony although not all have unobstructed views. What's more, sleeping inside the park beats driving from Cortez - 45 minutes one-way - for just a few dollars in savings. Family Travel Tips: Far View Lodge is the only accommodation in Mesa Verde National Park; the only other choice is camping. The lodge is located near the park Visitor Center, roughly 15 miles from the park entrance and 5 miles from Chapin Mesa sites. It's open April through mid-October.
