There are three reasons to consider Grand Canyon Lodge. 1) Grand Canyon Lodge is the only North Rim hotel. 2) It's located at Bright Angel Point and sits on the North Rim. 3) Sleeping at Grand Canyon Lodge beats driving from Jacob Lake, 30 miles distant. There are five things to keep in mind. 1) The cabins are rustic; the motel rooms are basic. 2) The bathrooms are small. 4) The service is awful. 5) The food at the restaurant and deli is mediocre, if not poor. 6) There's not much doin' after dark; the in-room lighting is too dim for reading and there are no in-room TVs. Family Travel Tips: The motel rooms are long way from the lodge. Only the Western Cabins boast rim views. Pioneer cabins sleep six albeit uncomfortably. Not all rooms and cabins have space for rollaways. The hotel is open mid-May to mid-October. Advance booking is essential.
