There are seven reasons to consider Morefield Campground. 1) It's the only campground in Mesa Verde National Park. 2) The near 400-site campground is open to tents, trailers and RVs. 3) All campsites have a picnic table and grill. 4) The campground has flush toilets, showers and coin-operated laundry. 5) There is an onsite gas station, general store and café. 6) Several hiking trails start from the campground. 7) A ranger-led evening program is held here nightly from late May to early September. There are four things to keep in mind. 1) It's 11 miles or a 40-minute drive to the cliff dwellings. 2) The restrooms are bit rundown. 3) Advance registration guarantees a campsite but doesn't secure a specific place. Arrive early to get the best pick. 4) The campground is more expensive than most. Family Travel Tips: Morefield Campground is open seasonally, late April to late October. Advance reservations are required for full hook-up RV sites. Leashed pets are allowed. Park entrance and camping fees are charged seperately.
