In addition to renting bicycles, Mike's Bike Tours offers two English language bike tours in and around Amsterdam. The Countryside Bike Tour, roughly 4 hours in length and pedaled daily March through November, is ideal for families with children aged 8 - 12. You'll see funky houseboats, rowing clubs, people fishing, and a few authentic windmills. This bike tour includes a stop at a cheese farm and clog factory. The City Bike Tour, a 2.5 - 3 hour ride offered daily year round, is the best pedal for spirited parents and teens. Highlights include wooden drawbridges, houseboats, bicycle filled streets, Dam Square, Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Of note, the Red Light District is both a topic of commentary and stop en route. Family Travel Tips: While there is no minimum age requirement for the Countryside Bike Tour, all participants must be able to ride their own bike. Children must be at least 13 years of age to participate on the City Bike Tour. Both rides are easy, take place rain or shine, and depart from Kerkstraat 134. A discount is available for children and students. All bikes are beach cruisers. Mike's Bike Tours doesn't have bikes with kid's seats, tandem bikes or bakfietsen (the bikes with the boks in front). None of their bikes have company signs. Rain gear and helmets are available. Advance reservations are not required. Cash is preferred.
