Arizona Horses, the combined forces of Ponderosa Stables and South Mountain Stables, offer a variety of trail rides - hourly trail rides, breakfast rides, cookouts rides and hayrides - in Phoenix's South Mountain Park. And while this group has 20 years of experience, riders are often left scratching their head. The experience is hit or miss. Some guides are communicative, others say nothing at all. Weekdays are crowded and groups are oftentimes very large. All rides are geared to beginners. The food is just ok. Family Travel Tips: Riding experience isn't required. Children must be at least 6 years of age to ride alone. Kids aged 2 - 5 may ride double with an adult. Reservations are recommended for trail rides and required for all other rides.
